"Marriage between one man and one woman does a better job protecting children better than any other institution humankind has devised." -- Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn.
Um, really?
I always thought that communes did a better job of protecting children than a gender-specific mated pair. More people to help raise the child, more resources, better chance of role models. Hell, a polygamous family has more resources to devote to protecting and raising a child than a couple.
And where does the gender-specificity come in? What is it specifically about one man/one woman that is more protective than two men or two women?
And since when is marriage specifically about protecting children?
