Huge headache today, don't know what's causing it. I'm plenty hydrated, I've had caffiene, and I'm not sneezing my fool head off, though I suspect a virus. My body wants desperately to sleep.

Talked to the Homevestors folks today. They're going to give me a ballpark appraisal, and if it's in the neighborhood of what I'm looking for, they're going to do an on-site appraisal and offer. I'm not exactly enthused, but it's an option I have to consider. Also checking on home equity loan/line of credit through the credit union.

Got an estimate on reroofing which was a lot better than I thought it would be. $5000 instead of $8000. It seems low to me, but the company does have recommendations, and it covers everything including permit and dumpster.

The financial setbacks have other consequences. Aside from not having the money to pay off some debt, it means I'll need to purchase materials to work on the house as I can afford them, and it means I'll continue to be working on the house myself rather than have others do it.

It also means the likelihood that I'll actually be able to afford either the time or the money to shoot a movie is drying up like a raisin in the sun. I'll either be working on the house or moving my ass out of it. I might be able to compromise and scale back considerably in what I wanted to do, but that's a judgement call that needs to be made when I can.

Don't think the worse of me because of it. It's hard having to cash in dreams.

No one will think less of you. You're taking care of the essentials first, and leaving the dreams be for the moment. Painful, but wise. After all, one doesn't sing an aria to an iceberg while your ship sinks around you.

It's that pragmatism that keeps me here right now. No, the pay ain't great, and no, I'm not writing anything...but it's money coming in while I look for The Next Gig. Can't beat that.

I totally understand. I feel sad for you and proud of you.
this is the kind of thing that can drag people down.
You're pushing through, working through and that is heroic.

"It's hard having to cash in dreams."

Yes it is, and I am sorry you have to do it. Very sorry.
