Ye gods, I've been spending the last two days trying to track down a memory mismatch. This involves cutting and pasting code from two different programs in two different languages into a really big excel spreadsheet and comparing the structures to make sure that they have the same memory footprint. It also involves finding the corresponding code in both programs, and because they are different languages, the comparison isn't something I can readily automate.

My brain needs a massage.

There's no way to "diff" the appropriate strings to look for issues?

Okay, so, I get that you have to find the individual strings manually, but having "diff" do the comparison seems like it would save you a little work. Lord knows, "diff" saved my bacon more than once in the old Web Engineering days.

WinDiff (fer instance) is fabulous if you're within the same language. I'm going across two different languages with two different syntaxes.

typedef struct
{
long mushroom;
} mushroomtype;

vs.

type mushroomtype record =
mushroom : integer;
end;
