Sounds like something Lovecraft would write.

It was, a bit. I want to detail it later, but I had to drop a trigger note in case I forgot.

Next year?
I wonder what it would cost to run one? we have enough talent in our circle of friends

Re: Next year?
Talent is one thing, interest is another.

I have a friend who has run a "pro" haunt for a couple of years (The Dead Zone), but he hasn't recently mainly because of the headaches involved with finding a space to lease for a couple of months vs. the expense of a year-round lease.

Then there are the regulations that the Fire Marshall puts down which are almost antithetical to the concept of a haunted house, like sprinkler systems, exit signs, fire-retardant materials, on-site off-duty firemen and the like. And you wouldn't believe the cost of insurance.

Tunnel of Terror had to close down because they didn't have enough exits.

Fright Farm gets by because they have a semi-dedicated location and they have the assistance of the RCSD since that's who sponsors it. I don't know the details of Trail of Terror (Renny Fest), but I suspect that they get some carryover from Festival and can wrap the expenses together.

I know a lot of people that have done one pro haunt and never done them again. I've thought about doing a heavy-duty yard haunt, but for the number of TOTs that I get (not a lot of kids in the neighborhood), it's not worth the effort and expense.

Now the thought of putting together a horror movie-- that piques my interest a lot. You're not time constrained to a season, more friends are interested in acting for a movie than a haunt, and you have a final product that is playable at any time. Still expensive though.

SOmething that has come to mind through the genesis of You Tube is the idea of doing a horror movie in episodes... a series of seven-minute standalone pieces. A seven-minute movie can be shot on a weekend or two, which isn't too much of a strain on anybody.

Re: Next year?
I think so, though a lot will depend on what I get done this week. I blew off working on the house this last weekend, and I have to get the framing done sooooooon...
