Lots of fallacies. Lots of assumptions.

My big question is whether there are any secular arguments. All of the arguments that I have heard seem to be based around the religious sanctity of marriage, and many of them that marriage is primarily for the purpose of breeding.

I am amused by the arguments. To nearly all of them, I say, "so what?"

The only point these guys bring up that's a concrete-world concern is the sudden appearance of more beneficiaries in an overburdened system. That is a big deal, that can be explained in dollars instead of wishy-washy "values" statements.

Personally, I think the government needs to get out of the marriage business. Wipe all marriage benefits off the books. Have civil unions open to everyone (including gays), and that affords the legal links necessary for health benefits, etc. Have the tax breaks directly associated with children. Leave marriage to the churches.

Jeez. A better warning might be, "Don't click on the link if you have a soul, a conscience, a moral compass, or two functioning neurons to rub together. Or any combination of the above."

Well, if same-sex marriage means the culture war is over, then lets everyone get hitched and get the damn thing over!

No more war! ;-)
