Okay, I lied. There actually is a bookstore in Owatonna. It's called the Little Professor (Now with Comic Books!), so I had to give it a try.

First, it's tiny.

Second by "comic books", they have two rotary racks.

They have a shelf marked "fiction". A small shelf of romance, western, adventure, mystery.

And after some browsing, I finally found a Science Fiction section. Woo-hoo.

Okay, I'm a bit spoiled. I live within a strenuous walk of Dreamhaven. But for a little place, I was amused to find that there were *graphic novels* in the science fiction section.

So I splurged a bit.

  • Haunted Heartland, a collection of "true" hauntings in the midwest.

  • Zombie Lover, Piers Anthony. Xanth novel.

  • Voodoo Dancing in the Dark, Alan Moore, Michael Lopez, Al Rio.

  • LXG, volume 1. Alan moore, etc.

  • The Punisher (vol 3, 1-12)

  • Aliens vs. Predator vs. The Terminator (Oh, how could I not?)

  • and PC Gamer magazine.

I am a consumer whore.

And I am driving around Owatonna with a dessicated corpse in my passenger seat and not even getting stares. It's like I'm in Stepford.

Well, you really can't got wrong with Alan Moore.

Did you see the slashdot article on infrasound? Sounds like something that would be very interesting adding to a haunted house.

Yeah-- I've actually wanted to try it for years. They make bass shakers that you can drive with a regular amplifier that are designed to shake architecture, and they're really not all that expensive. I might yet give it a shot.

I know that a 12 Hz tone can induce nausea in some folk. That'as not really the effect I'd want to try for though...

The Clark Synthesis transducers are probably the best available. You can order them from www.smarthome.com-- they also have some cheaper solutions that are not as powerful.

The bookstore guy was real nice and ordinary. Pretty basic bookstore, not weird at all.

Yeah, but it's been years since I've read a Xanth novel, so it could be at least entertaining. And I like Piers Anthony.
Hey, it's for the hot tub reading time anyway.

Oh, dear lord, the puns. I had forgotten about the puns. It's like getting slapped with a wet fish over and over.
