Some assfucker sole my compound miter saw last night. Yes, it was locked down: they used a bolt cutter on the chain.

Aww, shitty!!!!! That was a NICE fucking saw, too. I was steeped with envy every time I saw it over at your place. That totally blows, man... :(

I will have another, in time.

It does make me reconsider creating some sort of improvised explosive device that is disguised as a nice piece of electronics or an expensive tool (they didn't take the table saw or anything else either, just the CMS) that would explode once it reached beyond a radius from a safety transmitter or something equivalent-- or perhaps when unplugged it would start a timer.

Yeah, I know: when cooler heads prevail I think it's a bad idea, but every time something gets ripped off I swear I'm gonna take revenge against these bastards, and maybe a hand or two in the process.

That actually wouldn't be all that hard. Just have a single wire loop that goes around the same brace as the chain. When somebody cuts the chain, they have to cut the wire too. The wire is charged, so when cut, it switches on a relay. That relay starts a timer, and charges a capacitor. When the timer runs out, the cap fires into a detonator.

You know... you can buy empty grenade housings at army surplus stores...

I'm just sayin'...

You can also buy 2" pipe nipples at Menards, along with end caps, and 5-lb bags of HE smokeless ammo powder at many ammunition stores. And there's something fun that happens when you get some Oxy Clean powder and mix regular gasoline into it.

Pity it's so difficult to get quantities of red fuming nitric acid. There's a lot you can do with that and regular household materials...

You would make a formidable enemy, my friend. I am SO glad we're on the same team. :)

So far I have chosen to harness my power only for good-- though I've occasionally strayed into using it for the power of mediocre.

Still considering that basement nuclear reactor though. Shipping of old Sr-90 thermal reactors from Eastern Europe is a bitch, but if the cost of fuel keeps going up, it might be worth it.
