Cut for squick.

The tooth was split all the way into the root, there was no possibility of saving it. So they pulled it.

Pulled is a little misleading. First they had to break off some pieces to get a better hold of it. Even with the novocaine, it's not a pleasant experience

First there was the electrocautery of a portion of my soft palate. Having to remove anything metal from my person just in case.

I am now at work with a mouthful of bloody gauze, feeling like I'd really rather be elsewhwere. The novocaine is beginning to wear off, and I'm gonna try to suck on some crackers for breakfast. Stitches come out a week from thursday.

I could definitely use some love today.

*gently pats the marmot*

They had to break two of my wisdom teeth to get them out, and I was aware at the time. Did they give you good drugs or anything for after-care?

I should have a scrip for Tylenol 3 waiting at the pharma when I go home today.

Good deal. Any way of being able to go home early, maybe?

Probably not, but if the headache gets much worse I may have to.

Um, call me kooky - but unless the office has a pain meter, they don't know how bad your headache is. So you could *tell* them it's bad, and still be able to get your scrip, some soft food to eat, and be able to get home and hunker down before it actually *gets* really bad.

Problem is I'm in a time-critical piece, and taking a break now means I'd have to double up later. I'd rather just tough it out and do what I need to do now and crash out tonight.

NOoooo!

I look forward to the day when they can grow fresh new teeth for us, and just replace the old ones when they go bad.

yeah, this is awful.
I've been an extraction victim but the breaking chunks of tooth off was my Jody. I sat on the end of the dental chair holding his hand. it is no bloody fun.

listen to your old pal Jane.
go the fuck home now.

I'm debating whether it's a good idea or not.

I have a headache-- like you'd expect, non?-- and the novocaine hasn't worn off completely yet, though I'm starting to get movement back in my face.

No booze for three days. Not a biggie, as I'm really not much of a boozer. I do have codiene waiting for me at the pharmacy tonight though.
