Took Artemis to dinner at Applebee's last night. She came over to help on the facade, which made me grateful because it made some things a whole lot easier, and as we were driving there we passed by the Calhoun Beach Club, full of "pretty" people. And it struck me that even though I try to be good and non-judgmental about people based on their looks, there is still a large population of people who don't try, people who are shallow and deceitful and really don't care as long as they don't have to put up with the intolerables.
I couldn't even say that it made me angry, more of a sad resignation. It did spark some lively dinner conversation about objectification and what that means, which in turn led into some discussions about pornography. I'm still intrigued by the whole objectification thing and I want to come back to it, but for right now I am going to go back to bed and cuddle with some fuzzy objects.
