I know I've mentioned the numerous repairs that we are doing to the house. One of them that gets short shrift is the back porchoid. There is a small "deck" just off the back door. More of a landing really. It was built sometime in the late 70's or early 80's, and it was built badly. It is decked with 3/4" pine boards, complete with knots and not pressure treated, and the joists span something like 30 inches.
In building terms, this is known as "not structurally sound". I've broken through three times now, the last being this weekend. So far I've been lucky and not broken any bones, but it has become my nemesis. It will die.
Not this year though.
