So Senator Larry Craig is reconsidering his decision to resign.

"We ought to seek to have the committee dismiss this outright," Brand said of a Senate ethics panel's investigation. "The Republican leadership called for an ethics investigation that had nothing to do with his office," Brand said on NBC's "Today" show.

I could give a rat's ass whether the man was cruising for a bruising in an airport bathroom. Everybody's got their flavor, you know? And Washington is full of seedy sexual practices of professional politicians; really as long as it's not dripping on me, have fun with it.

But what I find as "conduct unbecoming a senator" was the use of his senate card ("What do you think of that?") as an implied get-out-of-jail-free card.

So, yeah, good luck with that whole thing, Larry.

I'm not a republican, but I play one on the street.
I've never voted for a republican. I probably won't, unless someone truly exceptional comes along. But there are some advantages to donning someone else's hat for a day, so to speak.

I feel an urge to dress up in an elephant suit and carry a big sign saying "Perverts out of our party". I'd walk around in front of the courthouse 'til they shooed me away, hoping to get my picture in the paper. This would be a perfect opportunity to partake in a mock protest, with lots of other folks playing the part of "angered republicans", ala "Billionaires for Bush".

I think that's a wonderful idea, until I actually spend any time outside, and the thought of sweltering in a full-body costume leaves me feeling a little nauseated.
