I'm a bit stumbled, because this is the time of year that I'd be making all sorts of creepy-crawlies, and all of my creative energy is going into the front porch-- intentionally and with forethought-- in the hopes of getting it the fuck done so I can move on into something else.
Looking back on previous years, I haven't really done anything with decorating the house for Halloween since I believe 1999, maybe 2000. I used to decorate the front porch and the exterior, but the dearth of trick-or-treaters kinda made it a lot of work for nothing, and I ran into a couple of years where something else came up that I had to do on Halloween night (usually fixing stuff).
Since I got back to civilization in 2005, I haven't really done anything except the Haunt Crawl. I always plan to have a Halloween party, but by the time it rolls around, there's still no way I could have people over without somebody getting injured or poisoned or something else awkward. So as much as I'd like to say next year for sure, I figure I'll let next year speak for itself since I still have so much stuff I want to do for next year as well. If things go well, I'll have an actual garage that could be partially constructed as a haunted house, or maybe just as a place that I can store enough stuff that I can have people over to the house-- but I doubt that I'll have furniture by then. So most likely not next year either.
And really, who knows what the future will hold?
Other than more work.
