Dec. 5th, 2007

Waking up at 4:15 this morning was easy. Essentially I hadn't really slept.

Fox 9/29 studios this morning. There is a whole production news staff there at 5:30 in the morning, but they're very quiet. There were a lot of Klingon jokes from the news staff; we didn't storm the news staff, but we talked about it. First time in makeup and costumes; as it turns out, my costume is similar to wearing a sleeping bag, and it's really freakin' hot. It meant I was sweating buckets, and the sweat was pooling behind my forehead appliance, starting to dissolve the adhesive and dripping down my nose and into my eyes. Gonna try and find a bit different method, maybe attaching the nose separately. Probably not at this point.

Exhausted. Sleep-deprived. Sailing through until tonight at 11:00 or so, which is more-or-less the time I'll get home. Rehearsal call is 7:30 tonight; if I get home by 6:00, that gives me just enough time to break out the snowblower. And I still need to pick up new wiper blades.

More snow Thursday. I think that's tomorrow, it's all sort of a blur.

And a quick reminder that ticket sales have picked up a whole lot, so if you're thinking of going (this Saturday kids!), get yer tickets sooner rather than later.

If you're not thinking of going, I boo you.

As GeekGoddess said this morning after watching the bits on Fox 9:

Now is the winter of our dis-commendation
Made glorious summer by the Son of Mogh

Damn her, that's been stuck in my head all day.

Off to a communications meeting...

we need to get some lightweight sanitary napkins, they work wonders as forehead liners

I'm not sure which is scarier, that you know that, or that you had to discover it.

I think I would have filled a liner at least once over.

I'm emailing you a suggested brand to go with. I was going to post it here, but my sense of propriety wouldn't let me. :-)

Your director is a pal of ours, too. :-)

>The Klingons and the Vampires have a lot of common members.

This is my brain today. I jumped right to a tune from "Oklahoma".

Oh, the Klingons and the Vampires should be friends
Oh, the Klingons and the Vampires should be friends
One of 'em likes Qapla' batlh je
The other like to bite yer neck
But that's no reason why they cain't be friends

I think I need to go home and start drinking.

Damn you!

Sadly, I really don't think of us as "vampires". If anything, I think of us as "Starfleet". How else would I have a teenage son who can create work like this in Lightwave?

In a perfect world I'd shoot my U.S.S. Valdez fan film. Sadly, I don't have the $10k I'd need for studio space, construction materials (for a small, run-down TOS-style bridge, corridor, and turbolift), and costumes, so it ain't happening any time soon. :(

Fan film, eh?
Lets talk!
eh, had to give ya guys a label!

Re: Fan film, eh?
It's less a "fan film" and more a 20 minute homage and deconstruction of Trek. There's the best and the brightest of Starfleet, and then there's the trash. Below that, there's the crew of the USS Valdez.

Simple story, some light but fun FX, and a quick script with some good lines ("She represses her emotions just like any other Vulcan." WHAP! "She's just not very good at it."), but waaaaay outside of the Stone Soup Films budget.

I wish I could go. I'm dancing at a Madrigal dinner that night.
