I've been considering getting a new cell phone. My old one is a couple of years ago, pre cameras, pre SIM cards, the whole works. It hasn't been necessary, but as I've been looking, I've wanted a phone with a decent size QWERTY keyboard and web access (at least e-mail).

Tonight at work, putting on my coat, my phone went flying and hit the corner of the cube just right to kill the LCD displays. The phone still works, but I can't see anything like numbers to call anyone.

Since my plan is up for renewal anyway, I went to the Verizon store.

First I had to pay my current balance. They have a kiosk that takes credit cards, so I paid it off there.

45 minutes later, I was finally getting a new phone and the bundled accessories. It was seriously busy. I did find a new phone that I liked. Went to pay with the card.

Declined.

Since I had just transferred a bunch of money into it, I was puzzled. Tried it a bunch of times. Decided to access my online banking, which was funny because Verizon had no way to access the internet, so I had to go home.

Got online, logged in to my bank.

Not authorized.

WHAT THE FUCK?!?

Tried three times, same result. Now I'm panicking that my account has been hacked and drained.

Then I see the notice that my bank's online services will be offline from 5:30 until 11:00 tonight.

So no new phone. I can pick it up tomorrow, and hopefully all will be back to normal. In the meantime, the cell is pretty much dead. Hopefully I can get the numbers transferred from the old phone, but I'm not counting on it, so I'll likely have to rebuild all of my contacts.
