I wake up late because my alarm didn't go off-- I had it set to wake on radio and the volume was turned down, but that's another story. I'm in a rush to get out of the house because I need to stop by the humming and pleating place to get my boiler part.
That place doesn't have it, but they send me to another place that's a block away that specializes in boilers. I finally find the place, cleverly hidden in a quasi-residential area with no sign and a parking lot in back-- they don't really cater to off-the-street traffic.
I get the part ordered, or at least a check on availability. I leave, hop in the 'Sploder and as I'm backing out, I hear the sickening crunch of a Chevy Tahoe's rear bumper.
So I get out. The owner is one of the guys who works there, and he's really nice. We exchange information, and I'm about to leave again when the guy comes out and they happen to have the part I was looking for in stock so I go back in to buy it.
The bumper on the Tahoe-- well, it's the plastic bumper cover that's damaged, no metal damage-- is probably a $600 repair. And I'm gonna want to cash out on that one since it would jack my insurance again, and I want to avoid that if at all possible.
He's gonna call me with the estimate, but it's a chunk of change that I really didn't need to be spending. Thems the breaks and all, but it means that something else is gonna have to give.
And I just realized that not only did I forget to bring my cell phone, but I forgot my meds this morning as well.
Just not my day.
