What is it about winter that turns drivers into inattentive fucks?

On the way home, some jerkwad made a left turn in front of me. Not only that, but when they saw me, they stopped. IN THE MIDDLE OF MY FREAKING LANE. I had to swerve in about one car length. Had I not had 4WD, I would have slammed their right rear quarter panel. As it was, I missed by inches. So no damage.
But I'm still frosted.
