I just spent an hour on the phone with a recruiter who was obviously out of her depth in a specific position. It was full of buzzwords and jargon that she didn't understand (but I did), and even though we had established early that I wasn't willing to relocate, I spent time with her explaining what they were looking for in terms that she was able to understand. She thanked me profusely for taking the time to explain the stuff to her, and she was really happy.
See, it doesn't hurt me to help her. It increases her chances of finding someone to actually fill the position, and increases my overall karma. It's sort of that "pay it forward" thing in action.
I'm okay with that.
