Went to the Jeune Lune today with the intent of picking up some dead hard drives.

I got more.

Yes, it's a bunch of non-operational printers, fax machines, hard drives, scanners and the like. They will be disassembled and scavenged for parts that I can use, and the rest recycled.

Why the hell would I get more *stuff*, considering how much I've been working on getting rid of *stuff*?

Because this *stuff* I can use, at least after it's been scaveneged. It's chock full of stepper motors, DC motors, gears, bearings, sliders, sensors, switches, displays, power suppplies and the like. And I'm already in the process of scavenging, so I have a sort of disassembly line happening in the basement already.

Most of what gets recycled is the steel that I leave for the scrap metal fairy, and the plastic cases. With the actual circuit boards I take off all the usable components and collect the rest together for bulk recycling. Those I actually have to take to the recycling center.

Just got back from Coraline. Gaiman kicks righteous ass, but you already knew that. I'll say go see it. Onto the bike now. Wish me luck!
