Smells like rejection

Found someone on-line whith whom I thought I had a lot in common. Someone who I have already met in person and spoken with, but after discovering her on-line, I found out we had a lot of the same interests. I sent her a message. She sent one back. I sent her another message.
She has stopped responding.

Good thing I didn't ask her out.

I say that with some sarcasm, because it wasn't a romantic connection. Or at least I wasn't trying to make it one. It was a "wow, I never knew you liked these things too" kind of connection. A "hey, we should talk about stuff" kind of connection. A "You know, if we actually got together and talked, we might actually become friends" kind of connection.

Apparently, there wasn't a connection. And you know, I'm a little annoyed.

Hey, if you don't want to talk to me, it's pretty easy to just drop an e-mail that says so. If you might want to talk later but you don't have time right now, drop me a message and I'll leave you alone. But to just stop communication altogether-- well, it makes me feel like I'm not even worth a minute of your time. And I'll be dipped if I'm gonna let you have that kind of effect on me.

So farewell, interesting lady. May you find what you are looking for.

1. If your life were a movie, what would the title be?
Consolation. Or Infinite Monkeys.

2. What songs would be on the soundtrack?
A combination of Savage Aural Hotbed and orchestrated whalesong.

3. Would it be a live-action film or animated? Why?
Computer animated. Because you just couldn't capture this shit with a live-action camera.

4. Casting: who would play you, members of your family, friends, etc?
My voice would be played by Don LaFontaine (the movie trailer guy), because he's what I sound like in my head. Everyone else would be played by various character actors, as well as some farm animals. Except Kelvin. Kelvin would be a superhero who hides his secret identity from everyone.

5. Describe the movie preview/trailer.
A dark night-- the moon is full, and the camera is POV of a man running along a path in the woods. The music playing evokes that the subject is running for his life, being chased by something. He finds a small run-down shack in the woods, and he goes inside to hide.
Inside the shack, most of the walls have been torn away, leaving gaping holes. There is a closet in the back room with a crack in the door; the man runs and hides in the closet and peers out to watch for the thing that was chasing him.

The thing appears in the doorway: a humanoid figure, silhouetted in the moonlight. The man holds his breath, but the thing hears him, and rips the closet door off its hinges, grabs the man by the lapels, and pulls him up.

The thing is his father, and his father is angry. His father is yelling, but no sound is coming out, and his father is getting angrier and angrier, and the flesh on his face starts to peel off, exposing the skull underneath. As thedecaying flesh continues to slough off of his father's face, the man is being pulled closer and closer...

Aw, dammit.

Well, I managed to get everything done on this part of the project today. The one remaining weird crash-bug that came up was rather easily solved by Todd the project manager. A bit of obscure lore which I didn't know. He fixed it, and now everything appears to be working. Of course, it's still not real data, and the data conversions arent done, but for garbage data, it looks good.
Downside is that I'm now done early. And it takes me two extra hours to pay for the hotel and stuff.
I suppose I can deedle around and clean up text strings and formatting stuff, but that's real drudge work that usually comes in after it's been through integration phase I.
I could go in and start documenting steps in the addition of a vehicle to the system, because I know I'll be doing more, but that's a pretty major task to start on at what is normally the end of the day.
I could go back to the hotel and read, but I wasn't able to pick up a book last night. I suppose I could go to Target and get something.

This would be a perfect time for Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Damn.

Okay, gamer-geek questionsCollapse )
