<sigh.>

the_hot_geeks

It's like a community made just for me.
Suddenly I am endrenched with film projects.

This could be a very good year. :)
Haven't been able to sleep for a few hours now. Every time I lay down, I start coughing up poodles.

New season of BSG tonight.

I don't have cable.

I'm seriously torn. I like the show (DUH), but there's a very good reason that I don't have cable. I just don't have time to watch television. It is the sucker of souls, that time that you sit in front of the tube, and I already have enough CRT time at work.

But Oy, it's a good show. And Sci-Fi Friday in general is a happymachen thing.

It will be out on DVD eventually. And I'm sure that there will be chances to catch the show from my TiVO-enabled friends later. And honestly, I'd rather do a marathon and shoot my BSG wad all at once rather than get strung along week after week.

Contrary to my geek roots, I don't need to be the first to see anything. I can wait.

But it is tempting.

I'm going to work early today. If I can't sleep, I may as well be productive.
Tonight's task: the first side wall.

Dry stacked (yes, even though it's wet). The next step is a fiber-reinforced coat, then fill the interior cavities with rebar and more mortar/cement mix. The cavity behind will be insulation, probably perlite.

The half-blocks I cut with a cut-off saw and an abrasive blade. Took about 3 minutes per block. Later on I discovered that the 5HP grinder with the diamond blade cuts through them like butter. The difference in color is because the half blocks are still damp from being cut.

Dry stacking is a bit of a misnomer. There is a little bit of mortar in the joints.

Less than two hours including prep, cutting, and cleanup.

The Outlaw
- You Are The Outlaw

"Sure, I'll do it. My
way."

Just because you do not conform to the same laws
and rules as everyone else does not mean that
you are a bad guy. You travel your own path,
separate from those around you, with your own
reasons for doing what you do. Because of this
and your own nature, it goes without saying
that you are generally misunderstood. That does
not matter much, though, as people love you for
being who you are. You are pretty well set in
your ways and have no real intention of
changing. This can come across as a flicker of
arrogance if your not careful. You do what is
right for you, and God help anyone who stands
in your way.
