4th and goal

If all goes well, I will finish the postproduction stuff on the movie this weekend. That might be a little premature since I know that I've got a couple of big scenes to do that I haven't even really looked at yet, and I still have a final review and fix phase to go through (involves burning a DVD and watching scenes more-or-less in sequence), but it's that close. Once I'm satisfied with how it looks, I hand off the files to Fearless Leader who will then do the final assembly and mix with the final music, then he hands the final mix back to me for the last film-look phase. I might be able to shortcut this last phase-- I have to do some testing on field-to-frame conversion methods.

Then it's DVD authoring time.

Eventually, I'd like to do some commentary tracks, add the blooper reel and some behind-the-scenes footage, production stills, stuff like that... but for now, getting the movie completed and in show shape is the huge freaking goal.

And after that, I want to take some downtime.

Of course I've managed to commit myself to helping out a friend with her fringe show, which should be assembling sound effects and music on a CD (a cakewalk compared to this last epic journey), and I may be helping out on another project for Convergence. And there is the porch construction which has been at a standstill for over a month and really needs to be kicked back into gear, and the refinancing stuff that's hopefully still happening as I've been collecting paperwork on the fly. And the lawn work that I need to do, what with the mowing and the weed whacking and the watering the neighbor's plants and such.

I really, really need to play. I need a massage, BITF, some time spent blowing shit up (i.e. gaming-- a HALO LAN party would kick ass), and some quality time with friends. I'd like to take the dog swimming. I'd like to go for a bike ride (which means getting a new bike that actually fits me). I'd like to spend some time grazing into the veldt of a sweet young Canadian film starlet and getting my albino stompled, but chances are slim.

You scored as Death Rocker. You are a Death Rocker. You think beyond the 80s (cause you really like zombies, psychedelia, and B-movies) and are into the colorful, twisted side of the goth culture (which is portrayed in all your lovely horror-rock shows).

Yuh-huh.

Well, I do like B movies and zombies, and I have a certain fondness for psychedelia.
Okay, I just got caught up on e-mail. Prolific today, I assure you.

Last night I went to a friend's rehearsal for her fringe show. I promised I'd help out with some sound design. As it turns out, I'm going to be writing some music.

(Hey, who's laughing? Knock it off.)

Okay, writing is a bad word. Essentially I'm going to be assembling some music for her show. One piece really, more of an ambient piece than something with actual melody, but it has structure to it to kind of match the flow of the performance.

I've never really done that for someone else's show before.

But you know what? It's time to stretch myself a little.
Well, shite. That didn't last long.

Got a year-end bonus. Quite a nice one. Got deposited today, just in time to be eaten by the electric bill check, almost dollar-for-dollar. And the last house payment hasn't gone through yet, either. Worried about that one, it should have cleared weeks ago.
451/45. New personal best yet again. I thing this calls for celebration.

Need to go to Walgreens to pick up my prescription though.
