Well, it seems like I may be back up at the home computer, but it was not without its devistation.

I had to re-install Windows XP and IE7 to get the system services back, and I'll have to do a bunch of updates now. Had to re-install the antivirus software and kill off a bunch of startup stuff. I'll have to re-install Spyware Doctor as well, or install something equivalent.

I'm betting I'll have to re-install a bunch of software as well. Some of it made it through the fire fine, or at least to all appearances it seems to be working.

The good news is that I didn't have to wipe and reinstall everything. At least not yet. I think that may be in the cards when I finally upgrade the processor though. And before that, I'm gonna add some more network storage so I can back up all of my wanna-keep stuff elsewhere.

Well, my on-board audio is hosed on the computer. Reinstalled drivers, flashed BIOS, the whole snotfest, and "there is a problem with the hardware".

Looks like I may need to get a soundcard.
