Took a dirt nap this afternoon. It felt good to intentionally nap, to have it actually be a planned part of the day.

Doing a little bit of cleaning today. Being very low-key in general, a small island in the turbulence of life.

Looks like a nice day outside. I just might pop out later and do a little grocery shopping. I'm pretty much at the point where I need to get some new supplies unless I want to eat meat-and-sauerkraut soup.

I almost feel relaxed.

I got new glasses. It's nice to be able to see again.
Along with the glasses, I got a lens care kit, which comes with a few packets of pre-moistened lens cleaning towlettes. Which come in wrappers that look suspiciously like condom wrappers. With PRE-MOISTENED in big letters on the side.

I am amused.

I have pretty much made the transition to where I do things without a second thought-- I don't have to plan things around her schedule, or notify here where I'm going. I guess it's a milestone of sorts, or at least some sort of marker.

Gah. This is taking a long time.

I just saw a Bowflex commercial. 20 minutes a day, three days a week and you can look this good.

Huh. I'm doing 30 minutes a day, five days a week. And I'm not even close.

352/31.5 today. Being away for a couple of weeks dropped me back below my plateau. I don't know if it's a reaction to the new medication or not, but my legs are definitely more fatigued.

Plotting progress in Excel does give me a tool to look and see the plateaus. The main numbers I'm keeping track of are the cal/hr rate, though the raw data is calories & time. I've been keeping at the 350 mark for calories, and only rarely bringing that in before 30 minutes. If I do manage 350 before 30 min., I run it up to 375. A 350-cal burn is about equivalent to a 10-mile ride, though it's really a different workout. I do get a lot of upper-arm work in with the bike.

My long-term goal is 1000/60.

Looking at the data, there is a definite drop from when I was back in Minneapolis.

Dammit.

A plateau is one thing. going backwards is something else.

Oy. Back from grocery shopping, and the refrigerator is now comfortably full, and I am quite sweaty. That was a big haul.

I did meet a couple of the rather attractive apartment tenants while they were out walking their friendly dogs. It was pleasant.

I think the rest of the evening will be devoted to DVD watching, and perhaps some Adult Swim.
