For some reason I woke up at 2:00, and I could not get back to sleep. I think it was about 6:00 before I finally drifted off, then my alarm went off at 6:50. I hit the snooze button.
And again at 7:00.
And again at 7:10.
And again at 7:20.
Then my alarm clock did the strangest thing: at 7:30, instead of turning on the radio, it started beeping the alarm. I tried my best to ignore it, but after 20 seconds or so, it got louder.
I have a freaking intelligent alarm clock.
Fucker.
So I'm a little late for work today, and a little bleary in the big world.
Amidst a bunch of phone calls last night, I managed to get the side elevation of the porch drawn, but not commented. That's farther behind than I wanted to be, because I forgot that tonight I pretty much have to clean and pack for the weekend, and I lose tomorrow night with driving.
I still need to do the front elevation, the roof detail, and the small construction details, and then package it with pictures and a project scope. Then I have to submit it next week ASAP.
One of the phone calls was from Barb. The final estimate for the head gasket is $800.00, not the $500 preliminary estimate. I told her that she should shop around to try and find a better deal, but she's going to go ahead and pay for the repair because otherwise she would lose out on work this weekend.
She still has a job down in Minneapolis that she works on the weekends.
Quite possibly TMI
I continue to lose weight. It's a slow process-- I suppose it has to be-- but every once in a while, I notice something about my body shape that has changed.
My legs are the most obvious. I suppose that makes the most sense because my legs are getting the strongest workout. I still have HUGE thighs and calves, but they are really mostly muscle, and they have a pretty decent shape to them. And my arms have better definition and muscles that weren't there before.
My biggest problem is abdominal and gluteal fat. I suppose that is the hardest to take off, because it is the largest store of fat on most males, but boy does it suck.
I just noticed this morning that I was thinner from the side. On the large scale, this is a good thing. Losing fat and developing muscle is a huge primary goal. But there is this problem with sagging that is becoming something of an issue.
A number of years ago, I was watching a Bette Midler movie where she was talking about breast sag, and the "pencil test", where you try and hold a pencil under your breast. Well, I'm at the "paperback book" stage with my belly. Granted, my belly is bigger than most breasts (at least I hope so), but it's becoming an issue because my work shirts are not long enough to cover ol' droopy anymore.
On the plus side, it makes it much easier to smuggle office supplies.
