cajones once described me as a jack-of-all-trades and master of an annoying number of them. I am still quite amused by that description, because thinking about it, it's still pretty apt. The thing is, I'm not the best at any one thing. There is always someone who is better at something than I am. Really, when someone can specialize in something and focus almost everything on that, it is likely that they will be better than a generalist.
But where does that leave me in the big bad world? I can do a lot of things, but I'm not the best at any of them, and people tend to either want the best they can afford, or the cheapest they can get.
I really want to find satisfaction in what I do. And I want to make a comfortable living doing it. I suppose that is pretty much what everyone wants.
And to keep me from being bored to tears, I think I need to do a variety of things. They don't all have to be work-- I can still retain some hobbies-- but I do want to work at things I enjoy, and in an environment where I can enjoy them.
