Can't you just check "Don't auto-format"? Or failing that, put "pre"s?

Well, if I'm updating through the mail client, it pretty much comes in as raw text.

I just ended up using the html escape sequences.

What are "pre" s?

I've never tried it in LJ, but < pre > is an oooold html tag that indicates preformatted and pretends to preserve while space.
