once upon a time I mentioned that movie theaters would have to start making the moviegoing experience something special, or risk extinction.

I've ranted about this many times. As the movie experience becomes more and more like watching DVDs at home (small screens, commercials, turning the lights on before the credits are done rolling) people start treating it like watching TV. I think that people talk in movies A LOT more because of the commercials at the beginning.

And you can watch TV much easier and cheaper than going to the movies.

They need to take out commercials, bring back the shorts, and the studios need to let them keep more of the profits. Or the whole system will go away, and we will just have companies making DVDs to sell in Iowa, and the big-screens will just be in a few of the bigger cities.
