One of the things that I've wanted to do for a while is to have a "film festival" of sorts, or a contest or a workshop kind of thing, where the submissions are less-than-ten-minute shorts with no dialogue. The whole concept behind this is more as an exercise in visual storytelling than anything, though there's also a challenge in writing a self-contained piece that lasts less than ten minutes.

Last night's bout at the Cinema Lounge brought that up again, and through some bizarre dreamtime connection, I realized that one of the brain-kernels of a horror film idea fits perfectly into this. I just have to massage the ending a little, and I'm in.

It means I have to make a few more corpses.

Maybe it's because the start of fall sends me into the full-on Halloween season, but I am so in the mood to make a horror film it's scary. No way I can cut one this year, there's just too much going on.
