It's Friday, and I'm definitely squirrely. Haunt Crawl redux is tonight, the weekend is here, and I don't have to shoot a movie.

Don't get me wrong, I love shooting movies. The work is wonderful, and it's thoroughly engaging. But it's also exhausting.

I need to take some downtime, spend some quality time with my fluffy girl, sleep in, and watch bad movies for a while. A rubdown and snuggling would be nice, too.

Gawd. You sound like a movie-production-type person. (Nope. I didn't say the D word!)

When you get into a new project, you're all happy, then after focusing on a project for weeks, you're ready to BE DONE AND DO SOMETHING ELSE. When you're doing something other than movies, you'll get stuff done, get interested, and want to do another project. Then the cycle runs again.

But, you have fun, and that's the important thing. It's cool when you find something that fascinates you, drives you crazy, challenging you. You revel in it, It hits you over the head. It tells you that you've found something that fits. It's glorious.

Now, go! Take a break, so you can get your energy back for the next one! *kisses*

Even when I'm beat down and exhausted, there's still nothing I'd rather be doing.

Except maybe sleep.

There comes a point at which I become so fatigued that my judgement comes into question. I can tell when this happens, and I know that if possible, it's time for me to take a break. If I'm doing things like mixing or editing, it's usually after 2-3 hours at a shot, and I can get up and walk around for a bit. On location, it's usually more like 8-9 hours, but it depends on how long I've been shooting. In this case, there were a LOT of long days compacted into a short space, and it came earlier.

It's a lot of adrenaline. And when the shoot is done at the end of the night, there is a big crash. Longer shoots-- bigger crash.

But yeah, there's always a next one.
