Starting off the new year with a righteous bang.

Second unit shooting for PREY is now off to a hellacious start. One of the leads is going to be out of town for the next couple of weeks, and will only be available for ONE WEEKEND when she gets back, so I have to try and shoot all of her fight inserts in two days, in addition to one quickie location shoot. And two of those fight inserts are effects-heavy.

So the stuff that was planned for shooting later in the month is suddenly bumped to earlier, and I'm scrambling to try and make it work.

Then again, when I find myself saying things like:

Damn, a baby would be so cool, particularly one that's dismembered

I remember why I'm doing this in the first place.

Now I still need to find some victims, two children and an adult male. All stills, all dead. Lots of makeup.

Crap, I gotta do makeup too.

I could ask my little bro if he wants to be a victim. He's 15.

Probably too old. 10 is about the top end.

Looks like I may end up faking it. Fearless Leader is being hesitant at showing dismembered and bloody children. He seems to think it might impact the ratings or something.

Pish-posh, says I. If you can't make the censors gag on their Evian, what fun is it?

That can be fixed. I have bungee cords and duct tape.

As soon as I find out exactly when we're shooting, I'll let you know. AT this point, I'm waiting to hear from geohard.

my schedule is kinda screwy the next 2 months, but if I can help I will

No need to worry too much about makeup for the children. It really does bug me to show violence (or the results of violence) against kids. Let's go with the route that we imply what happened to them rather than show it. So "less is more" when it comes to the kids.

You take away all my fun.

Seriously, I'm with Tony on this. Showing the family's deaths graphically, besides being too disturbing with gored-up children, would be out-of-sync with the rest of the movie.

Just write down all of your ideas for another film. I've already got a title for you, "I Dismember Mama"!
Jan. 4th, 2006 04:25 pm (UTC)
Already been done.

I'm already planning on fake children, since we're not even gonna see 'em. Makes the casting a lot easier.

Either I'd heard that title somewhere before or I'm a genius when it comes to naming gore flicks. Somehow, I think it's the former. :-) (By the way... ew.)

If the kids are just going to be lying still... why build fake ones? I'd think it would save a lot of time and money to just have real kids lie still for a few seconds at a time while the camera rolls. No acting involved. Hell, we could use GothTrooper and MonkeyBoy again (we used them for Hunter), with different hair and clothes. If their faces don't show no one will be the wiser.

If you can talk Fearless Leader into it, that would be wonderful, but he already was feeling squicky about using the kids as victims again.

Yep. Something like panning across a bloddy smear to Cassie's face losing all of its humanity is more what I had in mind. No dead kids. Ever.

No dead kids. Ever.

Sounds like the Bush in 2006 campaign slogan.

Waiting on geohard
I didn't know I was holding up the show. I answered the email you sent to Mel re:location timing earlier today, T recap I'm gonna be out of town from the afternoon of 14th and coming back around midnight the 21st. Besides that earlier or later could work. Qob is also quiet good w/makeup.
