Trying a little brain chemistry experiment.

Started taking amino acid suppliments. L-Tyrosine and SAMe in the morning, and GABA and 5-HTP at night.

Short-term: seems like the L-Tyrosine/SAMe may be doing some good. Hard to say after one day, but I seem less likely to be "down", and more able to communicate.

I'm a little concerned about the 5-HTP. Last time I tried that by itself, I felt horrible. I love the GABA though.

I'm happy to hear that.
I found this "dude" last year, who I call The Supplement Guru and he was certainly odd but following his recommendations sorted me out.

um. 5-htp can feel good but sometimes it is combined with other herbs (was it valerian? cant remember) that made my blood pressure skyrocket. I felt so sick. watchum BP.

So GABA is a relaxant and it reduces your memory??

I don't remember.

It's definitely anti-anxiety. I haven't noticed any memory-reducing effects.

Been meaning to try SAMe for quite a while. I've gone into GMC a couple of times, but I get cold feet. I feel stupid, and (my memory might be faulty here) it seems too expensive.

I need to take SAMe so I am able to buy SAMe, I guess.

I got it at the Wedge. It's expensive, probably about the same as a co-pay for prescription antidepressants. Thing is, it's worth a shot. If it doesn't do anything, you're out the equivalent of a night of beers, and if it does work, you've both found something that works and it puts you in a better frame of mind.
