Having a quandry about being artistic.
I have a good handle on the technical aspects of filmmaking. I understand lighting, sound, makeup, visual effects, pretty much the mechanicals.
The thing that's smacking me upside the soul is the storytelling aspect. The stuff that's running through my mind has all been done before, and probably done better than I could do on a limited budget.
What I want to do is to put together a demo reel of the kinds of effects that I can do. I'd really like it to be in the format of a short film so that it's entertaining to watch, but maybe that's asking too much.
But there's also this weird thing that happens when I'm trying to write a screenplay where I don't seem to be able to pull an original idea out of my head.
Sucks.
